Zamkova St.

It is situated in the middle of the north-east of the defensive wall of the Old Castle. Originally, it was an overgate tower. In 1544, it was restored and rebuilt in the interior. The works were done by I. Pretfes. In 1672, the upper part of its parapet with the loopholes was destroyed. In 1790, the first tier of the Tower was covered up with earth, the battery was built along the north-eastern elevation, and the entrance with stone steps and tambour was made in its eastern wall.
The hight of the Tower from the side of the main yard of the Castle is 14 m, from the northern yard - 15m. Its diameter is 8.8 m, the stone wall thickness is 2-2.2 m. The first tier of the Tower is covered with a torispherical vault; two upper tiers are covered on beams. There are the conic stone angle over the forth tier. There is an intraparietal passage, connecting the Tower with adjoining defensive walls, in the level of the forth tier. The loopholes are in the form of the key. The window opening on the eastern elevation of the second tier is with white stone platband of the Late Gothic style, the plate with heraldic signs is placed under it. The stucco with the tracks of the geometrical drawings remained in some places of the walls of the Tower. That drawings are analogical to that of the Rozhanka Tower. The arcature and parapet of the upper tier are restored in the Tower.
The monument is an example of the flanking towers that combine the function of the overgate ones.
