Koval's'ka Tower #3 (The Rock Tower of the Polish Gate), the XV-XVI centuries. Preservation #727/10 | FotoIt is a part of the defensive and hydroengineering system of the Polish Gate.
It is located on the rock, 12 m high, to which the barbican at the Overgate
Tower adjoins. The stone, two-tiered, oval in plan, 7,7 m in large diameter,
6,5 m in smaller diameter. Not large area of the rock is its foundation. The
wall thickness from the floor side is 1,35 m, and 1,15 m - from the opposite
side.The coverings are on the beams are with propping up in the sockets of the
walls. The entrance to the first tier is located from the side of the rock,
the tiers are connected by the wooden stairs. The floor of the first tier is
the rock, paved by the flag. The loopholes of the first tier are with sides,
widening outside. The loopholes of the second tier are made with a strong slant
of the embrasure part and the narrowing of the sides outside. The small areas
of the one-tiered defensive walls sided with the tower from the south and north
(the northern one did not remain). The Southern wall was located over the casemate
at the barbican of the Overgate Tower.
It was restored in 1978.
