Koval's'ka Tower #2 (The Wall Tower of the Polish Gate), the XV century. Preservation #727/9 | FotoIt is a part of the left bank fortifications of the defensive and hydroengineering
system of the Polish Gate. It is located between the left-bank tower that was
located near the river and did not remain, and the rock.
The tower is stone, two-tiered, round in plan, 5 m in diameter. It is located
on the defensive wall, 3 m in diameter, in which the passage was made. The pendent
over the wall parts of the tower are supported by white stone end pulley.
There is a passage with 4 loopholes in the first tier of the tower. The loopholes,
facing the floor, southern part. They have the form of the key and are made
for the cannons. The loopholes, facing the northern part are slot-like. They
are made for hand weapons. The tower was covered with a high shingle roof (it
is restored now), the coverings on the beams were with propping up in the sockets
of the walls (did not remain).
The conservation and restoration works were carried out in 1962.
