2 Troyits'ka Square

It is located in the centre of the Old Town, in the western part of the Troyits'ka Square. It was built in the second half of the ղ� �entury as an administrative building, two-storied, stone.
From March 26 to April 2, 1944, the headquarters of the 10th guards Ural Tank Corps were located in this building, the lieutenant-general of the tank forces Y.�.Bielov was in command of it. The colonel �.B.Lozovs'kyi was a commander of the headquarters of the corps, the colonel, F.Zaharenkowas, was a commander of the political department. The town was liberated from German fascists on 26, March, 1944, but till April,2 it had been defending from the opposing faction, which as a result of Chernivtsi-Proskurivs`ka operation was encircled and tried to return Kamyanets'-Podil's'kyi. During the liberation and defense of the town 3 guards tank brigades belonged to the corps (the 61th Sverdlovs'ka, the 62th Perms'ka, the 63th Tcheliabins'ka), the 29th guards Unechs'ka motoshooting brigade and some units of reinforcement - independent tank, artillery and mortar regiments.
From March 28 t� April 2, 1944, during the siege of the town the commander of the 10th Tank Corps was simultaneously the commander of the town garrison. Some part of forces of the 6th guards mechanized corps, which took part in the liberation of Kamyanets'-Podil's'kyi, the 49th mechanized brigade, one battalion of the 16th guards mechanized brigade, tank and artillery units of reinforcement were also under his command. The command of the garrison exploited all the potentialities for organization the defense of the town. It remaned the staff with member of people's volunteer corps of the citizens of �amyanets' and its suburbs, arranged repairs of the tanks at the local plants, used captured weapons and ammunition. The staff of the 10th guards Ural corps defended western and southern boundaries, the Old Town, Fortress, and suburbs: Russian and Polish Farms, Pidzamcha etc. In these sectors all the attacks of the Hitlerite troops were successfully repulsed.
In 1975, on the eastern front of the building, that faces Troyits'ka Square, the memorial plate, made of white marble with dimensions 0.6 � 0.8 m, was placed; a bronze bas-relief of the guards symbol and dedicatory inscription was attached to it.
Today, there is a library of Kamyanets'-Podil's'kyi Rayon in it.
