Dwelling House (Ruins), the XVIII century. Preservation Number #1632 | Foto
10 Pol's'kyi Rynok Sq.

The monument is situated in the eastern part of Central'na Square and occupies the third section of the IV block of the southern side.
The building is rectangular in its plan, 20 m wide, 25 m long. It is three-storeyed with a basement. The main, western front faces Centralna Square.
In the North, the dwelling house No.8 sides with it, on the southern - No.12.
The building history of the building dates back to the ղV century. The first descriptions of it come from 1700. During this time the territory of the building consisted of two equal parts - 9.850 m each, which belonged to Olexandr Strabon and Voytseh Klochovych. Then, in parts of Strabon there were only three basements, and overheads there were eight clay-walled huts -a temporary dwelling of monks-carmelites. Such a condition of the building up is caused by the destruction during the Turkish occupation. On the part of Voytseh Klochovych there was a kamyanytsia (a stone room), which consisted of two upper vaults (commercial-trade rooms), and also it had a rear stone room. Aside from it in basements there were four rooms.
In the description of 1734, former part of Strabon, which was mentioned as the property of carmelites No.10. The former kamyanytsia (a stone room) of Klochovych was described as "kamyanytsia of their Worshp nuns" and consisted of "a big room with alcove and a rear room".
The description of 1739 is the evidence of the fact, that the southern part passed into hands of Yan Chaykovs`kyi.
The first topographic plan of the city of 1773 fixes the building up of both sections in form of two rectangular buildings, the northern building was shown almost twice shorter than the southern one that faced Dovga Street.
The description of the city of 1769 fixed changes, which had happened on the building up of both sections. So, under No.31 there is a kamyanytsia (a stone room) on two sections of noble Chaykovs`kyi. These changes are also fixed in the plan of the town of 1880, where instead of two medieval parts the big joint building was shown.
According to the description of 1824-1626, the house of the merchant Grygoriy Chaykovs`kyi was stone from the side of the market and had 2 storeys.
At the beginning of 1880, the building had two more storeys and it was made in baroque forms with a high prediment, decorated with modelling.
After the fire in 1887, the building was rebuilt, the second floor was built on. The comparative analysis of plans of the reconstruction in 1887 and inventory plans of 1924 shows, that during this time the planning structure of the building practically had no changes.
The reconstruction of the post-war period had totally changed planning of the ground floor and of the first floor. Instead of the wooden stair that had been in the northern part, new concrete stairs in the southern part of the building were made. From the previous building periods the vaults in the northern part of the building has remained, the rest of them were substituted with concrete and wooden ones.
