Dwelling
House, the XVII - XIX centuries. Preservation #1656 | Foto
3 Hospital'na St.
The house is a monument of architecture of the state importance (The Decree of the Soviet of inisters of USSR of 06.09.79, No.442). It is located in the southern part of the Old Town, that from ancient times was inhabited by the Armenians. The house considered to be the Armenian hospital by mistake. The existing house was built in the second half of the XIX entury, in the place of much earlier buildings of the XVII-XVIII enturies.
The material is given by the head of the scientific department of NHR "Kamyanets'" by ivil'sha .B.
According to another sources:
The building of the hospital is L-shaped in plan. There is a yard in the centre.
The hospital is isolated from city din. In the yard, along the perimeter of
the building there is a wooden gallery-balcony built on between the first and
second floors. As archeological finds revealed, ( M.S. Borkovs'kyi found sawn
human bones in the trench, and a surgical tweezers in the stream). Not only
therapeutic treatment but also surgical operations were conducted at the Armenian
hospital.
Local surgeons M.M. Komisarov and Y.O. Kivil'sha confirmed that the tweezers,
found by me, are really surgical instrument.
The Armenian community in Kamyanets'-Podil's'kyi came apart in the middle of
the XVIII century but their hospital in Hospital'na Street received sick people
almost till the XIX century.
Former Armenian Hospital is a dwelling house now. The planning of the building
and gallery-balcony has remained. The building is protected by the state as
a historical-architectural monument of the Armenian people.
