The Eastern Tower and Ruins (stone), the XV-XVI century. Preservation Number #754 | Foto
Town of Sataniv
The eastern
tower is in ruins. The oldest round tower has a diameter of 6 m and the width
of the walls on the level of the first tier is 1.2 m. The coverings were flat
and on beams. There were loopholes in the walls which were framed and covered
with white-stone blocks. We can judge by the stone wall remnants that the tower
protruded over the line of the wall by three fourths.
The round tower is a rare example of defence architecture because it demonstrates
the evolution of the flanking towers, loopholes and other details.
